Local Wells Fargo presents $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity

Oct 15, 2009

Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County (HFHTC) was invited by the Sonora branch of Wells Fargo Bank to attend their annual Community Partners Breakfast on October 15 at the Pickle Patch in San Andreas. Representing HFHTC was their Executive Director Betsy Harden who accepted a check for $1,000 from Wells Fargo Manager Bryan Adcox.

On September 2, Harden made a presentation to the employees of the Mono Way Branch of Wells Fargo to encourage the employees to sign up to make personal donations to HFHTC. The following week Adcox called Harden to inform her that the group that decides how to spend the bank's annual charitable donation of $1,000 selected HFHTC as the recipient. "This donation means a great deal to our affiliate," said Harden. "We do all of our own fundraising locally and $1,000 is a sizable amount to add to our coffers."

The money comes just as HFHTC is kicking off a major fundraising effort to repay a $399,000 bridge loan they received from Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI). This loan was given to HFHTC to allow them to purchase a partially completed development near Columbia California that had gone into foreclosure. As Harden received the check, she said, "only $398,000 to go!"
