Jamestown Harley Owners surprises Habitat with a check for $1000

Oct 19, 2009

The Jamestown Harley Owners Group (HOG) surprised Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County by presenting their Executive Director Betsy Harden with a check for $1000 at the October HOG meeting held at the Pine Tree Restaurant.

"It was the most fun I've ever had at a check presentation," Betsy Harden said with a laugh. Because it was their October meeting, there was a Halloween theme that carried throughout. HOG members were given gag prizes for categories that included "Best Use of Orange", everyone got Halloween candy, and there were a lot of laughs. "These people know how to have a good time while being incredibly generous to the non-profit community," observed Harden.

Every year, HOG supports various non-profits in Tuolumne County with cash HOG raises during the year. There was no application process for this money - Jamestown HOG selects the recipients based on recommendations from their members. The 2009 recipients were Habitat for Humanity of Tuolumne County, Boy Scouts Cub Pack 10, The Vietnam Veterans of America - Chapter 391 of Sonora and the Mountain Women's Resource Center. Thanks to all the HOG members for this much-needed cash donation and for showing us once again: it's all about community helping community.
